Above the Storm

Scripture: The Jews in Susa came together on the fourteenth day of the month of Adar, and they put to death in Susa three hundred men, but they did not lay their hands on the plunder. (Esther 9:15)

Observation: Working in the retail industry, I see a lot of different kinds of people. Though we are in the business of serving the general public, it amazes me how many people take advantage of that fact. A co-worker of mine and I had a deep talk yesterday about this very subject and in it, I told her that I have a really big problem with people who think they are better than others, just because of their race, nationality, or even the amount of money they have in their wallet. I told her that I believe every person is equal and no one person should be above any other. Anyway, the conversation got really heated, because for a moment, I almost lost my temper; not at her, but just at the general idea. This quote reminds me that any person who is against the Lord and his people, will be dealt with accordingly. I can get mad and lose my temper, but it is the Lord of Heaven and Earth that will bring judgement on these people.

Application: I need to remember that I need to be slow to speak and slow to anger. I need to treat everyone, even those that don't respect me or others, with the love that Jesus showed us by being crucified. Though it might be the most harshest, unloving person, Jesus will have His way with that person and I must shine His light through my actions.

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for all my brothers and sisters in the world. Even the ones I don't quite see eye to eye with. Give me the patience, respect, and love for those that I don't agree with and help me to understand that we are all Your children and You have a plan for each and every one of us. Help me to be a light that shines Your love upon all those around me. Amen.
